Cafe Selatan

Finding for a cheap, nice and quality western or asian food? Cafe Selatan has everything you want! This café is operated by a group of friendly Malays. This café always manage to serve food at a short period of time. Therefore, if you are rushing to have an ambrosial dinner, we strongly believe and recommend that this is the best place for you, other than those fast food restaurants.

The arrangement and design of the shop is simple, and they split up into two section which you can choose to either sit inside or outside of the shop. You are able to spend you time sitting there and enjoy the cool breeze that gently touches your cheek.

NESLO (RM2.80), TEH TARIK (RM2.50)
This café serves various drinks and beverages. Neslo is made up of nescafe and milo. As for Teh Tarik, it is made up of tea and condensed milk. Teh Tarik has long become one of our national drink. The name ‘Teh Tarik’ if we translate into English name is called ‘pulled-tea’ which comes from the action of making this tea where people will pour from one teapot to another cup using their arm length which makes the tea has a lot of bubble at the top of the drink.

DOUBLE FISH & CHIPS (RM9.50)
In Johor Bahru, we seldom find western cuisine at a price below RM10.00. This café serves delicious, crispy and affordable price of fish and chicken chop. If you are a black pepper sauce lover, we promise that this will not fail to satisfy you! The fish they are using is dory fish and it does not has any fishy smell. However, the fries that they serve do not contains any salt and its much healthy than any fast food restaurant. We truly recommend you to try the western cuisine especially the fish and chips.

 MEE HOON SOUP (RM5.00)
This Mee Hoon Soup is a little spicy for us but if you are someone who loves spicy, you may request to add 'crazy spicy'. The ingredient that they use include egg, fish cake, carrot, cabbage and few eggs. We feel that they give a big portion and their price is definitely worth it in Johor Bahru.

NASI GORENG KAMPUNG (RM5.00)
As a Malaysian, no one will not enjoy eating this. The most important ingredient in a Nasi Goreng Kampung is chili padi and the anchovies. This café serves the crispiest anchovies and we enjoy eating it together with the rice. When we start biting the anchovies together with the rice, the loud crispy noise came from our mouth.
On the whole, we enjoy eating here and we like to chat with the boss as he serves, crack jokes and care for every customers. One thing that surprises us the most is that there are lot of different races people sitting in one table and this is what we call as one nation, one Malaysia.
